A free app can be generous without being sneaky. It can solve a useful problem without building a hidden business around your habits, location, contacts, or identity.

Free is a good place to begin

We like free things. Free lets someone try an idea without a decision meeting, a credit card, or another subscription to remember. It lets a useful app travel from one friend to another. It gives a product a chance to earn a place on your phone.

That is especially important for the small, practical tools we build. Turning an old phone into a dashcam, planning a trip, or following a walking route should not begin with a transaction.

You are a person, not inventory

Some free products do make money by profiling people and selling access to their attention. That business model exists, but it is not the only way to make software and it is not how we want to work.

We do not want to know everything about you. An app should ask for information only when a feature clearly needs it. A dashcam needs camera access to record. A route app may need location while guiding you. Those permissions should have an obvious purpose, not become an excuse to collect a life story.

Collect less. Explain clearly.

Our rule is simple: collect as little as possible, keep it only as long as it is useful, protect it carefully, and explain why it is needed in ordinary language. When something can stay on your device, that is where we want it to stay.

Privacy policies often become long because companies want room to do almost anything. We would rather make a short promise and build our products so we can keep it.

Trust is part of the product
